Jurgen Klopp admits rejoining to coach Liverpool is conceivable.

The German coach, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that returning someday remains something that could happen. Klopp, after a transformative nine-year spell that included continental glory and ending the club's long wait since 1990, has since taken on positions overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and as an advisor for the DFL.

Fan Sentiment and His Frank Comments

They secured the league title last season, but many fans who revere Klopp would welcome the possibility that he might come back one day. Speaking candidly, he told the podcast host: “I stated I will never coach a different club within the country. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“At 58 years old, that means I might decide later on, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, it's not necessary. I'll simply watch what lies ahead.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Pressed on which situations would need to occur to bring him back to the dugout, he revealed he isn't eager to such a return. “I don’t even know exactly, I love what I do right now,” he said. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing in the rain through long matches; I don’t miss going to press conferences repeatedly each week or doing numerous chats each week.

“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, yet sharing a meal alongside the squad enjoying conversation, is pleasant. Success was frequent thus frequently a very good mood in the building. I can still hear Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh in my ear for example.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise of the current boss, acknowledging his role due to the changes which secured the championship last term. They've been defeated four in a row in all competitions post heavy investment, though he denied the notion of it representing a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, critics will regret with negative comments. He’s an incredible talent. [Hugo] Ekitike, incredible player. This is a well-built thoughtfully assembled roster. No need for concern over the club, things will improve.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

The manager expressed deep feeling about the death of the Portuguese star, a player he signed in 2020, and its impact at the club. The forward died tragically in a vehicle collision with his brother in July.

“Can you substitute a person like him? It goes beyond his footballing ability, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the dressing room without him in it. I still cannot speak properly on this topic. A profound tragedy for the entire squad as well. No one within the club would cite it for poor performances but it is the situation. Being in that space where he was omnipresent. Handling this emotionally is not easy. Unbearable.”
