Our Purpose Is Only Killing' - The Way Sudan's Vicious Paramilitary Group Conducted a Mass Killing

Warning: This Account Presents Disturbing Descriptions of Executions.

Militiamen laugh as they travel on the bed of a pick-up truck, hurrying by a row of nine lifeless forms and heading in the direction of the descending Sudan's evening sky.

"See this extensive work. Look at this act of ethnic cleansing," a fighter cheers.

The individual smiles as he directs the video equipment on his own face and his companion fighters, their Rapid Support Forces insignia on display: "The victims are all going to be killed in this manner."

The combatants are exulting in a mass killing that relief organizations believe killed in excess of 2,000 civilians in the Sudanese metropolis of the Darfur city in recent weeks.

A City Cut Off from the World

Having held the city under encirclement for approximately two years, from the summer the militia proceeded to strengthen its dominance and blockade the remaining civilian population.

Satellite images show that forces started to build a enormous earth barrier - a built-up dirt embankment - surrounding the edges of al-Fashir, closing access routes and halting humanitarian assistance.
