Well, perhaps an contest for the urn in Australia where they still have a chance to reclaim the urn after the first three Tests.

This is not the case this time, though, after a comprehensive 82-run win in Adelaide put the hosts 3-0 up for the fourth successive Ashes series on Australian grounds.

England's famous supporters' group, the vocal contingent, have 3,000 fans traveling for the last two matches in Sydney and Melbourne.

There are also tour groups who will celebrate the holidays in Australia, as well as families and friends planning a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

The Ryding Siblings

A group of four supporters are four such fans.

The four siblings had their travel arrangements and match passes booked for the fourth and fifth Tests "a full year in advance", hoping to witness a long-awaited triumph.

Instead, they have watched Australia defeat England convincingly in just under two weeks from their house in the north of England.

"People in the office has been giving me grief regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," stated Sam Ryding.

"The hope was that we would have a meaningful contest upon our arrival."

Diminishing Hope

There was plenty of positivity regarding the team's prospects of securing a first win in 15 years for a victory down under ahead of the tour.

However, the situation is now staring down the barrel of continuing a barren spell in the country to 19 consecutive Tests when the Boxing Day Test begins in Melbourne this week.

Ben Stokes' side - and their supporters - will be hoping to sidestep a dreaded 5-0 scoreline.

It was mentioned that the "thrill and enjoyment" of head coach the aggressive 'Bazball' approach in the past couple of seasons had "reinvigorated" Test cricket for England fans.

But the Ryding siblings said they had minimal hopes for the fourth and fifth Tests - and all they are hoping for from the players is "a bit of fight".

"Every pundit points it out, but it all hinges on fortitude. 'The aggressive approach has been elevated to a term now that is just, like, unrealistic play," stated Rory Ryding.

"Over the course of five days, you should apply yourself. Wafting outside 'wide of off stump has never featured in the fundamentals, and that is primarily due to the batting lineup."

The Remaining Matches

Asked whether he believed England will win a match in the current series, one fan responded: "It looks like the Aussies are just too good currently."

"There is going to have to be multiple performers that makes a significant contribution and turns the game."

Despite the scoreline, the group remains anticipating the trip.

"It will be a fantastic experience anyway," said Katie. "We have to go with that attitude."

"Obviously it is a let-down we aren't fighting for more, but we have made a substantial financial commitment by now."

"We will make the most of celebrating the holidays in Australia. It is also our first experience away from home at this time of year."

An educator, Katie is intent on maximizing the lengthy journey as part of her seasonal break.

"As a backup plan, I can play golf to turn to," she added.
