President Trump Invites Loved Ones of Injured National Guard Soldiers to the White House
Former President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has invited the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the presidential home.
He added that he conversed with her parents and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Devastating Shooting
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Memorials across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.
Presidential Call
The commander-in-chief explained he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both soldiers of the state Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump told reporters. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”
Community Support
Community members assembled over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both they had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to support law enforcement in Washington DC.
Remembering Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that teachers hoped for. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the principal of her previous school, stated to the media. “She was sweet, caring and always willing to help others.”
Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Actions and Government Revisions
Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The incident prompted the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and temporarily stop granting entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.
Status of Andrew Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.
He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general Pam Bondi told a news show that she also intended to speak to the family.
Impact of Sarah Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with excellence, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had bravery,” Morrisey told the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
