American entertainer Finn, who featured in popular TV shows like "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at 60 years old.

The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in Los Angeles on Monday following treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, as reported by news outlets.

"Pat never met a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his family stated in a announcement.

They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".

A Notable Career on Screen

Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a regular part on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, portraying a party host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several popular shows, like:

  • The King of Queens
  • "Friends"
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

His most famous role for portraying the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.

His film credits are It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Off-Screen Life

Outside of his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was part of a six-member improv team known as Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn taught, supported, and inspired countless students throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.

In a tribute, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote publicly.

Finn is remembered by his partner Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
