Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the plot but keeping viewers curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys

The preview reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
