The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named 6-7 Spared by Miami-Dade Mayor.

It might not have been at the identical stature as pardoning festive fowl, but the county's top official had her own Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” Levine Cava said in a speech with inescapable allusions to the extraordinary and sizable number of executive clemencies issued from the start of the onset of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “May this pig enjoy a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”

The gathering, which both honors and questions the local cultural practice of feasting on pork during the holidays, was established to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, donated by a Coral Gables firefighter, was given its name from the popular vernacular phrase of young people yelling “6-7” – inspired by a hip-hop line – often seemingly at random. The trend became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently declared “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Peaceful Retirement

The pardoned swine is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It embodies the spirit of Miami: vibrant, varied, and rooted in traditions that foster togetherness. Every time, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach fritters and strong coffee as they toasted the pig's pardon.
