The Renowned Musician Calls On Support to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Festive Top Spot.
A campaign is aiming to propel a cultural melody to the top of the UK charts. The campaign seeks to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Chance for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I won't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, festive releases are a category of their own.”
Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.
“The song holds a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Featured Artists
The song was recorded following a major charity concert held in late summer. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.
The notable list of musicians appearing on Lullaby includes a group of acclaimed names from the industry. All took part in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for charitable causes.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of music creators. The single features a combination of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.
The group managing the project have stated that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These donations will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.
“There is no a specific target,” a figure explained. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to Gaza.”
The context in the area was noted for its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure said to be destroyed or damaged.
“Given that reality, a few million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is first of all making this cause better known and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The track is launching on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from later in the month.
